crash on boot - iMac

Recently my iMac has occasionally crashed when booted: probably about 10 seconds into the boot. The screen I get is below. Subsequent boots typically succeed.

Should I be worried?

I'm on a late 2012 iMac 27", 3.2Ghz processor, 32GB memory, running the latest version of MacOS.

On those occasions when it happens, I've just turned off the power at the wall and turned it back on after a few seconds. Mostly that solves it.

The problem occurs shortly after the screen goes from black to grey and before the progress bar appears

Please post an EtreCheckreport of your system. We can then look for obvious issues. Please click the link, download the app and run the report. Once you have the report, please copy and paste it as your reply to this post.

Thank you. Sometimes third party RAM can cause KPs'. I don't see any huge red flags in your report, however you should review the amount of Internet Plugins you have installed and see if you can live without some.

I suspect the issue might be hardware related however unless the KPs become more regular about the only thing you can do is run Apple Diagnostics and see if anything shows. As stated, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. Of course ensure you system is always backed up so if it is a hardware issue you will not lose your data. If the KPs become more regular take the computer to your local Apple Store or AASP to be thoroughly checked out.
