Permanently unlocking date and time on MacBook Pro - Sierra OS

I want to permanently unlock date and time on my MacBook Air, Sierra OS. Have used administrator password to unlock the time and date multiple times. Under Security and Privacy, then 'advanced', I have unchecked 'require admin password to access system-wide' preferences. I have restarted the computer after unchecking this. I have unchecked date and time after unchecking this, then restarting the laptop.

The date and time still requires a password to unlock each time I want to use the calendar on it to check future dates. Very annoying.

Please help.

Hello jaxfrommilton,

Thank you for your response but I guess I wasn't clear as to what I was looking to do (or in this case, undo).

In order to do anything with date and time, I must first unlock the little lock in the bottom left hand corner using an administrative password. I do not want to have to 'click the lock' to unlock it to make changes. I want it to remain unlocked.

Thanks!

Have you tried this:

1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Date & Time.

2. Click the Date & Time button.

3. Deselect the "Set date & time automatically" checkbox if it is selected.

4. Click today's date on the calendar and drag the hands on the clock to the correct time.

You can also set the date and time using the up and down arrows, or by typing over the current date or time.

5. Click Time Zone and follow the onscreen instructions to choose the correct time zone for your geographic region.

Hope you are able to resolve this 🙂
