Burning CDs...

Hi,

I am somewhat new to Macs. I am mainly a PC user, but have a Powerbook G3 that I like to use as well. I was wondering if there was any way to burn a full CD from my PC that would be recognizeable on my Powerbook. I want to install Ubuntu Linux, but I can never boot to the CDs that I burn regularly from my PC. My Powerbook does not have a CD Burner, but if I had access to a Mac that did have a burner, would it work if I re-burned it from that Mac? I have tried some software for my PC, but it had a maximum data amount of like 350 MB, I need a full 700 MB to burn Linux. Is there anyting that I can do?

Thanks

Good questions, all

I am not familiar with "Ubuntu Linux" but it must run on a PowerPC chip to run on your G3 Powerbook.

CD's like HD's can be formatted in several different ways. Just as your PC doesn't understand the Mac's HFS+ disk format, your Mac doesn't understand some of the MS drive formats as well.

I can easily burn a CD on my Mac that a PC won't be able to use, and as you already know, burning a CD on a PC that a Mac can't use is possible as well.

Next time you try to burn a CD for your Mac on your PC, see if there are different formats it can burn it in... try ISO 9600. There are others, and some may be better/easier for Mac's AND PC's.

Hi, Thanks for your response.

From Nero 7 (Will this software work?) I have only these choices for a filesystem:

"ISO 9660 only"
"ISO + Joliet"
"ISO:1999"

Will any of these work? I get this when I go to "Create a Bootable Disc" but it seems like it is for Windows...

Any Ideas or Suggestions?

Thanks
