How do I shut down or restart a frozen MacBook Pro TouchBar/ID 2016?

Well, well, well, I purchased this MacBook Pro last December and only discovered just now the extreme right end of the TouchBar, where you activate the bar with your fingerprint, is ALSO apparently a standard physical power button. The keyboard was totally dark and otherwise unresponsive to any action I performed on it. I'd never needed to use that button until now. I looked up the brief instruction pamphlet and so it is described. Thanks for your help.
It was plugged in so I disconnected for 13 minutes but it did not power down. It's unchanged, still frozen showing the start up screen with my name and ID icon. And it's warm as though it's busy with some internal loop?
The bigger question is why does it freeze in the first place, even though I'm running only a few apps? Suddenly the cursor will move, but the computer will not respond to clicks or keystrokes--so no way to properly shut down or restart from the Apple menu. Not even command-option-escape: it'll just bring up a list of open apps but no response to clicking the Force Quit button or the return key. Sometimes the open window in Safari will move to the right slightly too. It's a brand-new machine, barely a month old. I figure before I haul it down to the Genius Bar or spend forever with AppleCare on the phone I'd try to get an answer here.
2017 MacBook Pro bought a week ago FROZE while using touch bar in iCal .... this the first time a Mac whatsoever freezes on me .... seems like they are not as reliable as they used to be when Steve was in command. Lot of disappointments in Apple in the past couple of years or so.
problem was solved holding down Touch ID button and restarting that thing.
mehh.
My MacBook Pro with touchbar froze during the iOS update on High Sierra, I had a frozen screen just after entering the WiFi password, the screen only showed the apple symbol and a pop up box saying the MacBook would not work with the update, showing two options: turn off or try again. After a try again attempts getting to the point I gave up and pressed turn off. Pressing the touch at button did not work, but leaving the battery to die overnight did help the update to start all over again and it worked.
Newly bought MBP with touch control. It is frozen, with rotating symbol.
Have tried holding down Touch ID (alone, together with cntrl +option+shift) for 30 secs, and nothing happens...
Any suggestion?
Ok. Found it. Was just touching the Touch ID button, like normally, but you actually need to press it...
If it is on battery, connect it to the mains supply. Then try disconnecting it. If it was already on the mains supply, just disconnect it for a few minutes. Then power up.
When you disconnect it it is then on battery. Try Restart and Shut down in turn, when it is running on battery
Glad to be of help. Thank you for coming back with an explanation.
After giving disconnect and reconnect method a few trys I held down the on/off button while removing the power cord (disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord) and it rebooted. Yeah!
