iTunes Store is Unable to Process Purchases error over wifi?

I have an iPhone 6s running iOS 10.3.2. For the last few days, I haven't been able to update installed apps when connected to a wifi network. I just get an error saying "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later."

The error occurs when I am connected to any Wifi network (home and office, for example). Updates download fine if I turn off Wifi and use Verizon's data connection. I can, however, download new apps from the App Store on wifi.

Other iPhones and iPads have no trouble downloading updates on the same Wifi networks.

I have restarted my iPhone a few times. I have also logged out of the App store (Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Tap on my Apple ID -> Sign Out). I have also logged completely out of iCloud. I have also reset network settings.

Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on?

I am in your own situation, not even with the connection of my telephone operator (Vodafone.it) I can update. Additionally, my Mac Book Pro store does not allow me to update the apps that are present. How to do?

I was able to fix it, but it was a bit of curing the disease by killing the patient. I had to erase my iPhone and restore it from an iTunes backup. I tried backing up to iCloud, but it didn't make the problem go away. Only when I backed up to iTunes, erased the phone, and restored from iTunes did things start working again.

I am from Spain, have an iPhone 6 with iOS 10.3.2 and suffered the same problem described in this post. After trying several ideas for the last week, what finally worked for me (today) has been: 1st) Switch off Wifi on my iPhone. 2nd) Enable automatic app updates (leaving "Use mobile data" disabled). 3rd) Switch on Wifi on my iPhone. After this last step, all my apps began updating over Wifi succesfully.

Hi,

i have / had this problem and message too. (latest iOS and iphone SE and ipad mini 4) It started 2 weeks ago. On my iphone with app updates or repeated downloads of apps. Ipad updates worked. All devices use the same apple id.

I tried everything suggested in "If you can't connect to the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store - Apple Support" and more. What i haven't tried yet is resetting the itunes/app store cache by touching one of the bottom icons for 10 times. Will try that next time.

What worked was a download of one update using cellular data (disabled wifi on iphone / mobile hotspot for ipad via iphone). After that the error was also gone for my wifi. All seemed fine.

Today the error returned and i had it on both devices. Again downloading one update using cellular data worked and the error is gone for wifi, too. I wonder for how long?!

When googling, there are only few with that error. What might be special here is, that i have a old apple id ending on @me.com. Don't know if that could cause errors. My wifes iphone SE (family sharing) is not affected, by the way.

Kind regards,

Matthl

Yeah, it's back now that I'm on 10.3.3, and the trick with wifi on/off doesn't work anymore.

But I see it doesn't affect many users, In fact, no one I know suffering from that glitch.

Maybe we try to find out what we have in common?

Two facts about me: I switched to iPhone SE just recently (was devoted Android user for 8 years). So I have a lot's of Google services on my phone that I still use: Search, Chrome, Fotos, Keep, Gmail.

Have an iphone SE and an ipad mini 4. Both are or were affected. My wifi is provided by a fritzbox 7490 which uses google dns 8.8.8.8 and an ipv4 internet address. (no ipv6 possible with my provider).

My apple id ends with @me.com which makes it quite old.

VPN is a good idea, but.... apple...! what the **** are you doing to us?
