Found a solution! I can confirm that upgrading to iOS 11 solves the issue. I was having the same issue and it was driving me crazy last night. Read through this whole thread then thought to download the beta of iOS 11. Boom, problem solved. Just go to beta.apple.com to sign up as a public beta tester and download the beta. At this point most of the bugs have been addressed as the release of the gold public version is coming very soon (in a week I believe).

If you’d prefer to wait for the official release of iOS11 I can confirm that it will work.

Hope this helps.

OK. So they're just analog headphones (nice ones too). I don't understand how they can be working differently than the iPad speakers.

Now, your iPad has 4 speakers, the headphones only stereo. Is there a setting in GB or the iOS settings to do only stereo output? I wonder if GB is generating 4 channels and it has to be downmixed for the headphones. Look around and see what you can find.

If you quit apps you're not using this returns memory back to the iPad for your other active audio apps.

If you turn off Wifi, you can keep iPad from searching for WiFi signals while you are using your audio apps.

Also, turning off Background App Refresh makes sure no background running apps are trying to update their content while still working behind the scenes.

I work with audio apps all the time on my iPad Pro.

The only things you want running on your iPad when doing audio work is JUST your audio apps and mobile external audio interfaces, if any.

You DO NOT want any other unnecessary apps running in the background that aren't audio releated and turning off WiFi, if you don't need it during audio work, eliiminates, yet, another active iOS process.

Which kind of iPad pro have you? Neck use I used iPad pro 1 9.7 and all work right. Now I have 10.5.

I can't understand why same things work good without plug headphone. When I insert jack in audio out, after few minutes, latency go to hight and iPad became unusable .....

I use a powered USB hub 2 keyboards and focus rite solo (1gen) an all ok.

If I use garageband with audio out jack plugged and play a note with sound after half second .....🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Dear sterling,

All things is right... Turn off all application .... Turn off update in back ground .... I rebooted ipad....

Put in fly mode....

Only thing left me in doubt.... I plug akg k240 or another headphone.... GB cubasis latency hight.... Unplug ... Return all ok.....

Another thing.... If I use headphone with microphone (Samsung s7 head phone) no latency .....

Is it possible that iPad detect hifi headphones and start a service like eq ... Volume control... Or another one which put audio system in over flow?

Probably I could explain better in Italian language ....😊

I hope I explained right my problem in English

Tnx

Will

Hi,

Probably system are looking for at mic in but it may be low level system..... I tried to turn off in system but I found only cubasis and no GB...

In any case with headphone latency persist... With mic off.

Are there someone with iPad 10.5 who can try and tell me if have the same problem or no.... Because it s new hardware and probably driver not work correct.... But I need a test... 😊😊

I have the exact same issue. iPad Pro 10.5", wifi model. Brand new. All audio apps affected. Mighty frustrating? Since music is 100% of my focus right now.

Clearly a bug.

My only guess is that it might have to do with the new 120fps software hardware tech. It's like the audio buffer slowly gets filled up and out of sync. Getting unbearable in just minutes. In all music apps. Even Apple's GarageBand.

Apple perhaps hasn't had widespread enough field testing before going live with this feature. I hope Apple can solve it behind the scenes, not forcing all audio app developers to update. And they better solve it right now! This is the perfect musician's iPad. Can't have latency issue there.

Today's update did not solve it.

I'd like to know if this problem you have in any condition.... With speaker ..... Or with plug out put. Becouse if (I think) we have same problem I suppose a driver or software problem in the other case .... A lot of problem around sound card.... I could think about hardware problem...

Next time look a synonymous of "problem" in the dictionary 🤔🤔🤔 I promise !

I was in talks with apple's twitter support channel. They adviced me to first do a factory install, and not recall a backup. And see if it helps. From there they could try to help me pinpoint the bug..

But this machine is brand new and the issue was present when it came with factory install.

Anyhow, that's what they're telling me to do.

I can't do that right now because I have a **** internet connection. I need to get work done while I'm travelling.

Anyhow, Apple, this is serious. I got this mostly for music, and now I can't really use it professionally for music. The "Apple silence" really bugs me at times like this. Perhaps you're just silently working on a bug fix for iOS 11, and you're well aware of the bug, and that's fine. But it'd be great if you told us.

It was the first thing I did. I always report bugs and issues at Apple's feedback.. On a weekly basis.. since there are quirks appearing here and there. But it's a silent one-way communication. Apple's twitter is active and responsive, but doesn't seem to be connected to the developers, or perhaps not even allowed to acknowledge that there are sometimes bugs. I think it's reasonable to assume that Apple has got representatives lurking the forums too, even if they never reveal themselves.
