Found a solution! I can confirm that upgrading to iOS 11 solves the issue. I was having the same issue and it was driving me crazy last night. Read through this whole thread then thought to download the beta of iOS 11. Boom, problem solved. Just go to beta.apple.com to sign up as a public beta tester and download the beta. At this point most of the bugs have been addressed as the release of the gold public version is coming very soon (in a week I believe).

If you’d prefer to wait for the official release of iOS11 I can confirm that it will work.

Hope this helps.

I bought a 10.5 in the end and risked it.

I am using 256gb 10.5 ipad pro. 3 simultaneous Bluetooth midi devices inputting data to KORG Gadget, KORG Module and Cubasis.

There is latency on the headphone output. It builds up over minutes. IOS 11 didn't solve it. Unplugging headphone output and plugging back in temporarily solves the latency for a few mins. Then it builds back up.

There is no latency when using external usb sound card (alesis io4) and as far as i can tell no latency when coming directly out of the lightning port using the lightning to headphone converter.

If you are using Bluetooth controllers like me then you can just take audio out of lightning port with no latency. If you have to use the lighting port for midi controller then maybe a hub would work?

i can report the same problems on ipad pro 10.5 512gb, use of headphones in the ipad socket creates latency and hideous noise after a few minutes in any app that uses AU or iAA plug ins. have had it in Audioshare with just a file looping and one plug in, cubasis with just two au's in action etc etc. it doesn't seem to happen in self enclosed all-in-one apps like caustic or korg gadget... AND it doesn't seem to happen if i use my Guitarjack2 audio interface with lightning adapter and plug the headphones in there.. there is ABSOLUTELY a very widely reported problem with the new ipad pro's and any use of audio plug ins combined with monitoring via the on board headphones. We need confirmation that Apple have managed to grasp this fault and indication that it can be solved via firmware or software update. otherwise, like the other hundreds and hundreds ( thousands probably ) of people who have purchased these expensive items for portable music production, we will have to return them and wait for apple to produce a fault free model.

I have non of these issues at all on the previous 9.7inch ipad pro from a year and a half ago.

Apple, it's really your call on this.

You DO realise that you are NOt addressing ANY cognizant or responsible Apple emolyees here.

These are user to user support pages supplied and moderated by a specific Apple staff that does not report directly back to cognizant Apple technical teams, at all!

We are all users here, just like you.

Apple may or may not know abiut the audio latency issues with the new 10.5 and second gen 12.9 iPad Pro models.

OR

There is simply NOT ENOUGH FEEDBACK being sent to Apple about this issue.

Either way...

FOR EVERYONE POSTING IN HERE, THE ONLY WAY TO GET APPLE'S EYES ON THIS MAJOR ISSUES IS TO KEEP HAMMERING THEM WITH FEEDBACK FROM APPLE'S iPad FEEDBACK PAGE LINK HERE!!!!

iPad Feedback

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Cognizant Apple team employees read ALL feedback that come from ALL the feedback links, but they do NOT reply/respond to individual feedback.

KEEP HAMMERING THE FEEDBACK PAGES ON THIS ISSUE UNTIL APPLE ACKNOWLEDGES THIS AS A MAJOR ISSUE!!!

IF YOU DO NOT KEEP DOING THIS, APPLE WILL NEVER KNOW THE FULL EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEW iPad PRO MODELS AND MAKING MUSIC WITH THE iPad!!!

KEEP HAMMERING THE FEEDBACK PAGES!!!!

Good Luck to ALL on this issue!!!!!

You’re not addressing anybody from Apple here in these communities.

Other than Apple Support Community moderators who are Apple staffers, we are all users here, just like you.

If you JUST purchased this iPad and it's having issues and you are not happy with your new iPad purchase,

return it for a full refund and wait for all of the iOS 11 issues to get ironed out!

Apple has a 14 day return policy.

Good Luck to You!

I reported 2 times like iPad report bug and one time like ios11 tester but ..... Silence... Anybody knows an official and pubblic way to report this bug....

So at this moment I suggest don't buy iPad for semipro and pro audio production without a external sound card.

If you need portable set to use with headphone... Forget it don't work.

I bought iPad tree months later and I can't use it like tablet but only like desktop station .... So I think why I pad and no a cheaper Pc?

Sorry if I rude but I pay for Apple support(zero) .... Quality product(low) ... I understand probably it is a minor big but who are here buy iPad for music....

Someone help us... Tnx

I consistently get the latency and digital noise problem. iPad Pro 10.5 (purchased online in Canada on release day) and currently iOS 11.0.1. I had been waiting until the upgrade to iOS 11 before making the decision to return my new iPad. I purchased the iPad Pro solely for music production and have invested heavily in iOS music apps for my new iPad. My understanding is that the iPad Pro is for creative production so I am extremely disappointed that we have had no feedback from Apple yet regarding this issue.

Apple - if you need assistance in troubleshooting this or finding out more, please engage with the musicians and producers on the Audiobus forum who have been reporting this from the start. The thread is here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/20114/new-ipad-pro-12-9-2017-problem-with-lat ency-and-digital-noise/p1

I tried to record the noise using the iOS 11 built in screen recording but interestingly it recorded the synth app audio but not the digital noise. However, this video by KlaatuNinja did capture it GarageBand Chilled Jam - Audio glitch at 10.09 watch your ears!! - YouTube
