New iPhone SE battery calibration

Hi

I heard that in order to prolong and improve Iphone battery life it is necessary to run battery calibration cycles at least once a month and after each IOS upgrade? Is it true?

I did this process already on my wife's new iPhone SE and now planning to do the same on mine, and later on our old iPad PRO.

I just want to be sure regarding the calibration necessity.

And if it is really beneficial, is there any apps (specifically designed for this purpose), which can drain battery more or less fast. Right now I am streaming Youtube video with flashlight on.

Appreciate in advance for any suggestions.

No, you do not have conflicting answers. Lithium polymer batteries do need exercise and one charge cycle a month is recommended. A full charge cycle does not mean deep depleting the battery, it just means using the battery and then recharging it. Your interpretation caused the conflict.

You might want to visit this site, and not just for your iPhone: http://batteryuniversity.com/

Apple stop recommending deep discharge cycles, not overcharge. Per apple support, leaving iphone charging over night would not harm the battery.

However, please take into consideration the following. Apple, created their devices very sturdy in all aspects and for general population, so I can assume safely, when I spoke to Apple support on the phone, they could presume that they are speaking to general noob user (I did a lot of PC repair and building for fun sometimes ago, so I am considering myself somewhat an expert in those issues and have an open mind) and if so, they did not recommend any drastic approaches just to be on the safe side.

Deggie, I checked your link, it is very good and informative, but it is more general, not iphone specific (that site doesn't have search capabilities, so I was not able to find info specifically related to iphone battery), unless you know which Li-ion type Apple is using in iphones.

For now I stopped deep discharge cycle on my new iphone until I get more info on this topic.
