inactive data
My activity monitor is showing over half of the system memory is inactive gb. This seems to be slowing my computer down considerably.
Is there a way to clear the inactive data?
If so, is this ok to do?

1. Quit and restart applications or the computer. Note that leaving the RAM inactive is itself unlikely to cause a slowdown; it’ll automatically be converted to free as needed.
2. It depends on what you’re doing at the moment.

Inactive memory is the file system cache so the Mac does not need to read from the slower disk, saving time and power
If macOS needs the memory for something else it will take it as needed
