When replying to a Mail with images, is it possible to keep the images in the reply?

When I get email containing images and reply, instead of my reply containing the images, I get indicators like this:

<PastedGraphic-8.png>

instead of the original image. It's often convenient to have the original image there for reference. Is there a way of keeping the image itself in the reply?

Hi Doug,

I understand that you are trying to reply to messages that include attachments, but your reply only includes the name of the attachment instead of the file itself. I'm happy to provide some help with this.

Check out the information here for how to handle attachments when replying:

Mail for Mac: Reply to, forward, or redirect messages in Mail

If the original message contained attachments, decide whether to include them:

  • Include attachments in a reply: Click the Include Attachment button User uploaded file in the toolbar of the message window or choose Edit > Attachments > Include Original Attachments in Reply.

  • Exclude attachments from a reply: Click the Exclude Attachment button User uploaded file in the toolbar of the message window or choose Message > Remove Attachments.
