How many times does Sierra time sync?

OSX Sierra 10.12.6

I have time sync (NTP, Automatic time) enabled on my MacBook Pro Sierra 10.12.6.

I was wondering how often does NTP sync and how to influence that (more often).

Thanks,

Ton.

I don't think you can change how often this runs, but you can manually run the ntpdate command in the Terminal or from a script, that you can schedule.

I have just tried running this on the command line:

sudo ntpdate -u time.apple.com

My clock was adjusted by six one-thousandths of a second, according to the output message I got:

23 Jul 16:19:00 ntpdate[1297]: adjust time server 17.253.34.253 offset -0.006098 sec

Of course, I have no idea when the date was adjusted last. A grep search in the system log showed no matches for "ntp" or "time server".

I have an application that requires exact time sync between my PC and the people i interact with. If the Mac syncs once every day, it might be, depending on the crystals used in the Mac, that the time may be off a few tenth of a second. That's too much for my application. So i would like to be in control on how many times i want to sync.
