Remove the adware by clicking on Remove in your Etrecheck report. Then try again.

If you do not have a backup, get an external disk and begin using Time Machine. Anything can happen at any time and you don't want to lose your data.

Hey! I was able to update my computer by using an external website. Here it is Download macOS Sierra 10.12.6 Update <-- It should work now 🙂

Are you running any Anti-Virus software? Perhaps if you Download/Run/Post the results of Etrecheck in this thread it may be possible to see if something is interfering with your download capability.

Edit: macjack is correct. According to the download page the size should be 1.98GB.

I was able to download the 10.12.6 update through AppStore, but then the update wouldn't install properly.

So I separately downloaded macosupdcombo10.12.6.dmg and then tried to open the DMG to do the install. But the system said the checksum on the DMG was invalid.

I think the update file is corrupt.

Something is strange about the download file size for macosupd10.12.6.dmg which is why the checksum is failing. According to the download page, the file size is 1.11 GB, but the downloaded file is 1.22 GB. Which should it be?

I also have this problem. Downloaded the combo .dmg file (1.98G). First, no progress bar, straight to restart, hangs at restart. Did a safe start, zapped the PRAM, safe start again, this time a successful install. Confirmed by getting info (showed version 10.12.6) and looked at the App Store (showed 10.12.6 as recent install). Success! Or so I thought. The update is showing in the App Store again and getting info is showing 10.12.5. This has to be The. Worst. Update. Ever. Now what?

Exact same behavior here. It won't let me install 10.12.6 but keeps asking for it. Same message "Available updates have changed, see details..." – from there you can just loop the same thing over and over again.

It's now August 25, a month later, and it doesn't seem like Apple has taken care of that at all?
No fix, no solve, no alert, no nothing, which basically means "we don't care".

Try the download again. I don't think there is anything wrong with the checksum of the Combo, as many have been using it as early as this morning.

Just tried macosupd10.12.6.dmg using a different browser and a different storage drive. Same result -- checksum problem.

I just downloaded the dmg to test. I don't get the message about the checksum. However, "Get Info" on the dmg states the downloaded file size is 1.98 GB.

I show that it has installed, and that I am running 10.12.6 but it keeps telling me that it has not, and needs to download and install again?

I got around this issue by cleaning up my hard disk and freeing up some space on my system disk, although I don't know if that was the root cause 100%.
