2nd Gen iPod Nano doesnt fit ALTEC LANSING IM9 IPOD SPEAKERS port sleeve

I purchased these two products for my girlfriend at Christmas. The Altec speakers are great but the Nano is supposed to sit in the docking port with the aid of a plastic insert sleeve which you slide into the port when you open its door - the door is not dissimilar to the door of an old-style casette player. 3 different sleeves are supplied for the nano, video and standard ipod but the one for the nano seems to be offset slightly, preventing the "female" nano port from docking into the "male" Altec Speakers port when you use the sleeve. Without the sleeve, you can still insert the nano directly into the speakers port but the fitting is quite loose and vulnerable to damage in the event that anything touches it. Ultimately, there is a risk without the sleeve that the "male" speakers port could be broken. The sleeve is designed I presume to make the housing more solid and durable and to limit movement of the ipod on the male speakers port.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem and how did you resolve it? I figure the source is a slight movement of the location of the female port on the nano in the 2nd generation model.

Of what Bryan Mick said is right, as the 2nd Gen Nano, the position of the dock is on the left side instead of the middle.

Hope that Altec Lansing will soon release a new port sleeve for the 2nd Gen Nano.

One thing I feel strange, if you bought both products at the same shop and at the same time, the sales should mentioned to you at the beginning
