new iMac - add laser jet 1300
I just purchased a iMac, and need to add a HP laser jet 1300 which is on my network onto my computer. I don't see any drivers for it. how do I get this to work?

Go to system preferences/printersandscanners then press the + button on the bottom right.
I've had HP printers before and by using that menu, it downloaded the drivers for me and then I could use the printer.
Did you try to connect to the printer via the IP address? Have you done more basic things such as restarting the printer, the network and the computer? Did you try connecting the computer to the printer via USB to see if even that would work?
I wish there is a fix, but this is the work around I found yesterday. I used the driver for a "HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5"
I know how to add printer, but the computer defaults to generic, and generic winter work. then when I try and tell it, there is no HP 1300 in any pull down
that is what I do, but my printer isn't in there. it's a fairly popular printer
Have you made sure that your printer is connected to the network properly? Perhaps run a network test on the printer to make sure.
yes, 10 other computers (windows, linux, freebsd, old apple g4) on the network can print to it.
I. Looking for drivers. Printer and network are fine. But I did restart printer, computer. Printer is in dns and that works. The issue is getting drivers for the printer
