inventory system with numbers

Hi

I have created a document with a raw material sheet and a recipe sheet.

I am trying to do two things. When I enter a new quantity for a recipe I wish to save that sheet together with a new batch number as well as get it to update my raw ingredients with new stock levels as a result of the ingredients used.

This way when I go to do the recipe again I can immediately see if I have enough raw ingredients in?

Is this possible??

Hi David,

Here is an idea that may get us started.

First, a database listing the amounts of different ingredients for various recipes.

User uploaded file

Now another table to choose a recipe

From a Pop-Up Menu

And now an Inventory table to see if we have enough ingredients for that recipe.

Values ("In Stock") in Row 3 the Inventory Result table are entered manually (I have not yet found an automatic way to update, and we may fall into the trap of a circular reference).

Cell B4 of the Inventory Result table contains this formula (and Fill Right)

=INDEX(Per Serving::B,MATCH(Order Form::$A$2,Per Serving::$A,0))

Cell B5 contains this formula (and Fill Right)

=B4×Order Form::$B$2

Cell B6 contains this formula (and Fill Right)

=IF(B5≤B3,"OK","Buy "&B$1)

The menu was inspired by Monty Python - Spam - YouTube

Regards,

Ian.

Hi

thanks for your feedback. Valid point. Hopefully this visual reference may help

The green cell is where I would enter the quantity I am making for a particular batch.

I wish to save this out so I have a record of each batch I make

In addition in 'Raw Materials Ingredients' I wish for the stock levels of each ingredient table to maintain a record of the what has come in and what has been used so that an accurate record of what is left in stock is maintained.

I hope this allows you to have a clearer picture and hopefully one which maybe you can help provide a solution.

Many thanks all

In addition to your general description perhaps you could post a screenshot or screenshots of your tables. It's hard to suggest either a formula or script approach without knowing more specifics.

If you already know a little about AppleScript then a good general resource about scripting Numbers can be found at iworkautomation.com . But again, it is important to know the specifics of what you are trying to do.
