I'm trying to change my apple id email address to my @icloud email address from my old Gmail account, but it just continues processing until i eventually have to cancel out. What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to switch to my icloud email address? I'm looking to condense everything to my iCloud email address and iCloud drive from my google accounts.
Unfortunately, currently it is not possible to change an Apple ID's name/primary email from a third party email address to an iCloud email address (i.e. to the same iCloud email address that is already associated with/an alias for that Apple ID).
As such, currently you are not able to consolidate your Apple ID and your iCloud email address.
This is a known issue and it has been known for a very long time.

Normally, you can't use your @iCloud address as an Apple ID because the e-mail is in use as a Reachable at address.
