If I switch to facetime, and then want to go back to voice only, how do I do that without hanging up and redialing? (Sometimes you want to go back to voice only because of bandwidth issues or you are tired of looking at your phone).

I've had this same desire when switching to FaceTime during a normal voice call. However, when you do so, you're essentially ending the voice call and starting a new FaceTime call seamlessly. Because it works so seamlessly, you may not even notice the switchover, but there is no longer a voice call to return to.
You don't. That's not an option.

I hope Apple takes the suggestion and adds it. Seems logical and relatively simple. I've run into the issue several times. Face time is great but not always needed for an entire call (Say you want to show somebody something or they call you up to look for something in the house when they are away, bandwidth stinks, etc....) And if you hang up, the phone keeps dialing you back-- in Face time.
I'm surprised this is already not a feature.

Ok. It is not simple. Seems like someone there could figure something out. I've heard they've designed some other non-simple things.🙂
I'd use face time more if it had the capability to switch back and forth.

Actually, it's not simple at all. When you transition from a voice call to a FaceTime call, the voice call is terminated as soon as the FaceTime connection is established. There is no voice call to switch back to.
