spamsieve

I'm in the midst of undoing the mess Spamsieve created in my Mail. I still can't send and now waiting for my server to put my email set up back together.

I thought this was a safe app of Apple's then found this person and the manual were not from Apple at all.

I can't believe Apple would offer help with spam that creates an even bigger problem.

Wow! I asked if it was an Apple product and this is his quote. "Yes, SpamSieve is a Mac-only app "

But, I'm impressed that you have no problem with it. I'm desperate for something that really works but I'm very afraid to have this in my Mail. This guy told me to open a rule for Spamsieve in Rules and remove my server and that's where the problem began. I've thrown the app out now and tried to revert everything.

Thanks for your help.

I think whomever you asked misunderstood your question. He told you that it is a Mac-only product not that it was an Apple product.

All you need to do to disable it is to quit the program and remove it from your Applications folder. In Mail's Rules preferences locate the SpamSieve rule and delete it from the list. If you wish to have some sort of spam protection then you should enable the Junk Mail filter built into Mail.

I don't think that you and the person you spoke with re: Spam Sieve were on the same wave length. The misunderstanding is what got you in trouble. I hope at some point in the future you might read through the documentation to better understand the setup and configuration for Spam Sieve. It's an excellent Junk filter that is better than the one built into Mail.

This was my question.

Is this really an Apple app? As desperate as I am, I certainly don’t want something that’s going to make the spam, phish, scam emails I get any worse.

I have thrown out the app, emptied the waste and restarted but the Spamsieve "Train" icons are still in Mail Messages.

It's a busy time for me but I may come back to this when my life returns. The good news is that you have had success with this. Mail filter just isn't enough for the

kind of predators who have my email address. Another one has hacked, I think, as he is using an address of someone I know. As well, he put the name of an old friend

in the body of an email. My university is reluctant to change my address.

Thanks
