unexpected error on airport time capsule

My airport time capsule won't start. Airport utility examines the unit and comes back with an error message of unexpected error. I am unable to do anything other than cancel out of configuration.

You will not be asked for a password if you reset the Time Capsule back to factory default settings.....as you indicate that you have done.

Please perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule again.

Then, on your iPhone.....

Go to the Home Screen

Tap Settings

Tap WiFi

Look for a listing of Set Up New AirPort Base Station

Tap on Time Capsule and setup "wizard" will guide you through

The example below shows an AirPort Express that has been reset back to factory default settings, but you will see Time Capsule on your iPhone screen.

We need more information to be able to help.

Is this a new Time Capsule that you are trying to set up for the first time?.....or.....has the Time Capsule been working OK and you are trying to make a change to the device?

If you are trying to use AirPort Utility on a Mac, what operating system is the Mac running? If you are not sure, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, have you tried to use AirPort Utility on that device?

Have you performed basic troubleshooting steps like powering off the Time Capsule and your Mac, and then powering them up again?
