Magic Mouse 2 not showing proper preferences in Yosemite (10.10.5)

I've got a 24-inch iMac running 10.10.5 that when I connect a standard Magic Mouse to it, I get the proper preference pane and can adjust settings.

However, when I connect up the new Magic Mouse 2, I don't get the full preference pane, just one very close to the generic, 2-button mouse version of the preference pane.

If I have both bluetooth devices connected, I can adjust the Magic Mouse settings and those changes stick. However, the Magic Mouse 2 just continues to work like a generic 2-button mouse. I'm trying to turn off the right-click on the Magic Mouse 2, but can't seem to get the Mouse Preferences to show up correctly to let me make adjustments.

The iMac is running production work, so I haven't plunged into upgrading to an updated version of MacOS yet. Since the Magic Mouse shows the right preference pane, I'm perplexed why the Magic Mouse 2 isn't showing it.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or insight!

PS - I may cross-post this under Yosemite as well.

I have gone into this at length. This is what I have discovered about these mice.

Magic mouse 1 is able to work with all past and current systems (at least as far as Sierra). How much further it will go, I don't know, with High Sierra on the horizon.

Magic mouse 2 was designed for and works properly only with El Capitan, Sierra and is meant for all new Operating systems in the foreseeable future. The box for the MM2 clearly says it is meant for El Capitan and later.

As far as I can remember, MM2 is only the second generation of mice carrying the Magic Mouse name so it is probably about the right time for Apple to have introduced it, since many generations of OS have passed since the first and the systems have been hugely updated since.

I think you should be able to use a utility such as BetterTouchTool to do custom configuration to your Magic Mouse 2.

I was using my Magic Trackpad 2 (MT2) with my Late 2009 27" iMac running an older OS version by using BetterTouchTool, and by making the initial configuration while the MT2 was connected via the USB to Lightning cable. Once configured, I was able to disconnect the USB to Lightning cable and use the MT2 via Bluetooth.

Again, BetterTouchTool is how I was able to use all the capabilities of the MT2.

BetterTouchTool has Magic Mouse support as well.

But, BetterTouchTool is a paid app (it does have a demo period)

NOTE: I retired all my mice as soon at the original Magic Trackpad and BetterTouchTool teamed up on my iMac.
