iPhone 6 Plus sudden battery drain

Hello,

I have been using my iPhone 6 Plus for 2 years now and its battery has been working fine. It used to last me about a day and a half under normal use (checking messages, using social apps and browsing the web) and when it got to 1% I could put it on airplane mode and it would last a whole night out until morning.

Last weekend I stayed over at a friend's and used her (third party) cable and I noticed something different. Now my phone charges at an incredibly slow pace and discharges at an equally fast pace. It takes 2 hours to get from 2% to 15% but when I start using my phone (for texting) it goes from 15% to 5% in a mere 10 minutes.

I tried to hard reset several times, upgraded iOS to the latest version, also tried several cables (official Apple cables and third party) but it remains in this unstable state.

What should I do?

Hello!

I took a look at the article you suggested and realized that last weekend I was charging my phone by plugging it to my friend's computer via a third party USB cable, although the computer was left on the whole time.

I also noticed that the phone gets hot for no reason at all, and it discharges at a pace as fast as if it is being used. Charging takes an excruciatingly long time.

I wonder what I should do... Do I have to change the battery? I am very saddened because before this incident my phone was working fine and I didn't feel the need to upgrade to a newer phone.
