Pokémon go Apple Watch steps

On the Apple Watch for Pokémon go- it keeps saying I walked a certain amount of kilometres but it doesn't add it to the eggs I have or my buddy Pokémon. It keeps on happening and is frustrating due to the fact I know it is counting my distance and it shows up right there and tells me- but I check and see it doesn't add to my eggs- I even wait and wait and it never does it.
