MacBook Pro 2011 Trackpad Lifting

Hi guys,

I put a question on here the other day and it got a quick reply so thought I'd post another question I have:

My track pad on the left hand side has lifted, the right hand side has dropped, any ideas of causes and fixes?

I haven't every really used my MacBook for a good reason until now , but I'd like to do photo editing some I'm in the process of relife for it. New RAM, external monitor and maybe a SSD HDD upgrade.

I can use a BT mouse and the keyboard works fine, just curious for the trackpad.

Hi,

Sometimes a battery can "bulge," expanding up into the trackpad/keyboard area and the cables there. Obviously this can cause issues, issues such as your Mac is experiencing. Your Mac looks to exhibit a prime example of this. To see if this is the case, the bottom case needs to be removed so the battery can be visually inspected. If the battery is expanding, that is almost certainly the cause. It will need to be removed and properly disposed of ASAP, before it cracks open, exposing dangerous chemicals inside. If the battery is not expanding, check the cables from the trackpad and keyboard to the logic board to make sure they're properly connected. Expanded battery can sometimes be detected by examining the seam across the front of the Mac. If that seam shows any signs of being forced apart, you may have a bulging battery.
