Did I send my friend a virus/malware?

From Safari, I forwarded/emailed weblink (Ikea site) to a friend. She opened on her Samsung Galaxy, clicked on the link, went to Ikea site, then :30 later a pop-up appeared: "Deleting emails", then "Inbox 0" (w/confetti). She was unable to stop. Some messages were recoverable in Trash, but she lost most. She reset her phone - do I need to also? Went to Genius Bar & they had not heard of this before, had no answers. Has anyone heard of this? How can I make sure I don't ruin any more of my friends' Inboxes?
