Finder Does NOT save window viewing preferences on shared drives

Finder Does NOT save window viewing preferences (dragged window size, column bars, text size, and toolbar on/off) when using to connect and browse my shared drives connected on my network. It does not save these preferences after I force quit finder, or restart my computer. However my finder preferences stay when browsing files on my HD. I am logged in using administer, not guest, on these shared drives.

Please Help me with a solution. To change the viewing options on finder, and readjusting window sizes everyday to work more effecting with my screen real estate is waste of time and wish the windows would stay the same size.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist. Move the .plists to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plists to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
