Why won't my MacBook Air storage space clear up

Every time I check my mac storage it says I spent more if it on documents and when I go on my documents I only have 2 folder left. I'm allowed to do limited things because it keeps saying that my disk is full even though I have deleted almost everything off my mac. Anybody know any solutions?
