ATI Radeon x1600

Pro P' here, I have that card in my mac...though I don't play games it is terrific in PS & Aperture..enjoy..L

The x1600 isn't top of the line by any means.

That having been said, it's a capable card that can run most current games at good frame rates. The only games I play semi-regularly are Call of Duty 2 and Tiger Woods 2007 (on Windows via Bootcamp). Both games run very nicely on my CD iMac (same specs as yours, but CD not C2D).

For photography work, the chip will be fine. I notice you have the 256MB VRAM, which is nice if you want to add a second display (128MB/display, rather than 64MB/display). But either way, you shouldn't have any issues with the X1600.

i know i dont have much say but here goes.

in my iMac G5 iSight 17" i have the X600 Pro. i can run Halo at my iMac's native 1440X900 display. it runs very well. iMovie has no lagging and same with watching DVD's.

Since both PS and AP are 2D programs the 1600 will handle them fine. CPU has alot more to do with how those apps run than a GPU. With regards to 3D gaming i've had no problems running games like Quake4 and Doom3 on my 1st generation iMac CoreDuo 1.83/ati1600/128.
