Is telephone number 866-217-**** a valid help.A message appeared on my wife's computer, "a virus had been detected call this number 866-217-****. My wife contacted the number and she was instructed by an individual to force quiet Safari. She entered her name an a number the individual instructed her to access a website www.com. When she entered her name and a number the individual. The individual tried to have my wife talk to a tech person to determine what was wrong with the computer. My wife terminated the conversation and turned off the computer.

Obviously the website was bogus. My question is has her computer been compromised?
