Dented Keyboard

Dented the keyboard on my macbook air. the dent is around the rewind, brightness and the "6" and "7" buttons. I took it to an authorized service provider but they were no help. He said the motherboard is probably broken, and it will cost me about 600-700 to fix it which I couldn't do there (he didn't take it apart, he said they aren't authorized to deal with macbook airs). At the price I might as well get a new macbook. Just wanted to check if indeed, that is where the motherboard is located and if it will actually cost that much. Just some additional info, the macbook now longer turns on, and I would just take it to an apple store, but I live far away from the nearest one. Thanks!
