How do I get my icons back?

Without any prompting from myself, the BBC News, BBC Sport, Google and Apple icons have all disappeared from the Safari home screen, where they've been living peacefully without incident since I bought my iPhone 6 back in March 2016. How do I get them back? Have already tried switching phone off/on. Any constructive and jargon-free advice would be welcomed. Thank you.

Navigate to the website that you want to add back to Safari Favorites. When you get to the website, tap on the action/sharing icon at the bottom of the screen....the icon with the upward pointing arrow. Then tap on Add to Favorites. That will put the icon back on the Safari screen.
