How can I import a doc into iMovie timeline?

I'm making my first film and want to include a couple poems in doc format onto the timeline. I've tried dragging them or using the import media button, but nothing happens.Thank you in advance.

You have to save the documents in a standard image format so they appear to iMovie as just another photo.

Depending on what app you’re using to create the docs, the exact steps may vary. Generally, most such apps can “print” to PDF format. You can then open the PDF in Preview app and save/export it as a .tiff or .jpeg file.
