Mail app and gmail account recent activity

Hello all.

This thread is regarding an Iphone 5s on ios 10.3.1 and I have a question about the ios mail app and recent activity on a gmail account.

I'm just going to come right out and say it - I suspect my boyfriend is lying to me. He's away on vacation and we talked around 10pm'ish where he said he was going to go to sleep. I had a gut feeling so I decided to check his gmail activity and it shows activity throughout the night.

I'm going to attach an image and I'm wondering if someone can tell me if this is definitely activity from him or is the mail app doing something in the background in order to cause this activity? There are multiple ip addresses from 'Authorized Application' and the timing of each looks to be about an hour apart.

Is there any way to find out any information on the IP addresses?

I'd really appreciate any input on this.
