No, I don't work for Apple, actually this is a user only board, I'm a semi-retired musician and had one of the first MIDI Audio based studios in this part of the country... circa 198-86, used Logic since version 2.5 long before it was purchased by Apple. I don't personally know how to get a hold of Apple, a support phone call might be the first step.

I agree, it's not a good situation, however, it does not happen on all systems.

Are you using an Audio Interface or the computer's audio system?

In Logic's Preferences/Audio make sure the I/O buffer is at least 128 and Multithreading is set at Playback Tracks, not Playback and Live tracks.

No, that's not necessarily a solution as no one here (that I know of) knows how the problem originates.

One other thing I might suggest, again, In Logic's preferences you have an option to set separate input/Output..

make sure they're matched, when using the internal audio out set it to an internal audio input, digital sync is maintained when using matched I'M otherwise Logic has to do a type of built in sync, you said your audio interface was off... that could be part of the problem.

Sounds like the WNBOD (White Noise Blast of Death).

There are several extensive threads on this, it goes back many years.

It is dangerous and can blow speakers as well as damage hearing.

Anyone that has experienced this should contact Apple, I don't know if a single cause has been found, although it seems worse in some versions of OSX. I think it's Logic loosing sync with core audio, but that's just a guess.

My ears are ringing from blast of white noise from Logic 9

That's horrible! Users' health could be damaged by this there have to be some consumer protections this is violating? I'll try to find apples address. What should I do, should I keep using logic? Or will it happen again? I didn't use any 3rd plugins at that time, and i never downloaded any illegal (to my knowledge) ones anyway. Do you work for apple? I see you helping out a lot of people 🙂

Oh ok. It's really nice of you to help people like that. Buffer size was already at 128, and set it to playback tracks now. I hope that solved it. I use an audio interface, however it was turned off at the time of the incident (i wasn't recording, only listening to the project). Ok I will give them a call but does the playback track usually solve the problem for people? just so i know that if i can use logic till i call them? 🙂

No, of course not... whichever device is being used for output not a device that's turned off.

As for more storage... don't know, how much hard drive space do you have left. 20gb, 40gb, 60+gb?

Logic should normally be the only program running as it uses a huge chunk computer resources.

How much RAM does your computer have.

Here's the point, no matter what, Logic should not make unexpected audio output in the decibel range, it's something that should not happen in professional software.

That said it doesn't happen to everyone but from past postings it's not a stranger to many users.
