It is possible that you have only scratched through the fingerprint-resistant, oil repellent coating. It is normal for this coating to wear away under normal use, but it may have become scratched without damaging the screen beneath.
Whether you have scratched the screen or not, Apple does not recommend using cleaning products or polishing or buffing the watch with abrasives; these will wear away the coating and may also (further) scratch the display.
Unless the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, cosmetic damage - including scratches - is not covered under Apple's Limited Warranty (or AppleCare+). Your watch may be eligible for chargeable, out-of-warranty service.
I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider with a view to having your watch inspected and to establish any available service options, likely timescales and cost:
Otherwise, a good quality screen protector (of the thin film type) may be effective in obscuring or reducing the visibility of the mark, as well as in providing some measure of protection against future damage. You may wish to consider, for example:

Hi
No, I'm afraid not.
Your Apple Watch casing has an anodised aluminium coating, which cannot be restored.
To avoid further damaging the casing and to ensure that your Apple Watch maintains all functionality, Apple also advises that you should not polish or buff your Apple Watch with abrasives.
Apple's instructions for cleaning and handling your Apple Watch are detailed here:
You're welcome!
Apple does not currently offer either a trade-in program or an upgrade program for Apple Watch.
You may wish to consider selling your Apple Watch privately and putting the proceeds towards your new purchase.
If doing so, be sure to follow Apple's instructions for unpairing your Apple Watch and turning off Activation Lock, such that it is left ready for a new user to set up as their own:
Thank you Jonathon. This is what I thought, but wanted to hear from someone else. Just so you know, I had a zagg protector on my watch, and it somehow was ripped and I think the ripped edge is what caused the initial scratch. I have not seen the armour suit one, but will look for it. I think I will make an appointment at the Genius bar to see if there are any low cost options to repairing it. Otherwise, I may trade it in for the new 3 in stainless steel. I would rather have scratches on the case than the face.
Bobbi
It is not the casing of the watch, but the crystal face that is scratched.
Just so you know, Apple has no trade-in program for the Apple Watch.
