I received a message from my Norton Antivirus that said my computer was trying to access the CIJSUAgent. What on earth is that?

I own an iMac 2009, processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of memory. The operating system is OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. My Norton Internet Security program gave a message that my computer was requesting access to the CIJSUAgent. I have no idea what that is, and I haven't been able to find information on the web. I did allow access, but now I'm wondering if I should have. Any help would be appreciated!

You have given more than 1 quarter of your RAM over to Norton/Symantec

Multiple people have strongly suggested you uninstall Norton/Symantec. I'm going to suggest this again as well. It is not necessary. It is giving you false positives. It is slowing down your Mac.

And yes, you could use more RAM

macOS has several distinct layers of antivirus protection built into the operating system. There is virtually no risk from viruses. Adware, however, is a big problem. Unfortunately, most 3rd party anti-virus software is ineffective against adware, or sometimes indistinguishable from it.

One of the very frequent causes of "My Mac is running Slow" reports in these forums is caused by the anti-virus package the user has installed. Sometimes running side-by-side with adware that the A/V never detected.

The forum volunteers have respect to apps created by long time forum volunteers

AV products for mac, especially the ones from "respected" Windows developers are commonly the root cause of serious problems with OS X. The Windows mindset of needing Anti Virus and 3rd party utilities running along side the OS does apply to Mac, moreover the findings on these and other forums is these types products will get you into serious trouble on the Mac causing more problems then they claim to address.

In addition to having Norton on your computer, you also just don't have very much memory. You should give some thought to upgrading it. Click the link labeled "Instructions" next to the RAM information in the Etrecheck report.

I had an MBA with 4 gigs of RAM and I had to keep a very close eye on the memory pressure gauge in Activity Monitor or the poor thing did nothing by beach ball.

Use the "Clean up" button in the etrecheck list.

And uninstall everything Symantec/Norton and you will be good.

More Ram is a cheap luxury, contemplate it, although your etrecheck list did not report a lot of "Swaps used".

I would get rid of your Norton Antivirus program. You do not need it with the iMac. I had it on my iMac and it caused problems. Since I removed it from my computer everything is faster.
