How do I manage apps without iTunes

What App exactly? Was the file an .ipa file? Was it in the Mobile Applications folder in the iTunes Media folder?

The App if compatible with the iPhone should have been synced and installed on the iPhone.

Whine of the Day: I just thought of another advantage of accessing apps in iTunes that I miss. It made it much easier to 'shop' for apps to view the hits from a search on the Mac. I need a good iOS data monitor for each phone on our new family plan (moving to 'shared' usage) and am finding it a challenge to review them scrolling through them one by one. Really hope Apple comes out with a new App app for the Mac. I encourage everyone who posts a whine or concern about this iTunes change to also post the suggestion for such a stand alone app to the Apple site: Apple - Feedback.

(I don't want to hijack this thread, but in the meantime if anyone is familiar with an app that will 1) monitor device (not shared) use and 2) will automatically reset itself with the billing cycle, I'd be very interesting in it. I have found the family (which includes me) lacks the discipline to manually reset their usage in the Cellular settings of the iOS (10.3)).

Yes, because you can totally manage Android Apps from a computer... Wait.. no you can't.

There's never been a way to manage Android Apps for phones or tablets from a computer. They've always been managed directly on the device.

Anyone know of a third party app to manage the arrangement? My workflow was using my Mac, with far superior bulk editing to configure my, and other family members devices. This change creates hours of unnecessary work on the iOS device, which is clearly not meant to efficiently the organization of 100's of apps....swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe...for every single time you want to move a single app? 😉

Ok now I see File Sharing is still there. My bad on that one. However, other problems remain. 😟

FYI - I had to scroll down to make it appear initially (iOS 10.3.1).

Thanks for posting your discovery about the new App Store. Since it is newly designed, It will take awhile to figure out all the ins and outs, but this is a good one! 🙂

What if I want to put the apps in order. Previously, I used I tunes to place te icons and keep the iphones and ipad in order.

There is no point in trying to find apps at the file level on your Mac. This is not a Windows environment. There are very few times you need to dig into the weeds that deeply, and unless you know what you are doing, you risk creating more issues for yourself, and end up with no more information than you started with. Not sure what you are even looking for there....

You would have to download purchased Apps that are not on your device via the method I provided. Find the ones that are under "Not on My iPhone (or iPad), pick the ones you want, and tap on them to download them.

Monty Hampton articulated my problems with the new "stripped down" iTunes perfectly.

In a nutshell: apps management for iOS devices was always much simpler and easier using iTunes than using the individual devices. There was a central location for ALL purchased apps, not just the ones currently being used, and one could customize apps by device and by changing needs for each device.

Since that functionality is no longer available in iTunes, it would be helpful if it could be made available elsewhere in Mac OS (and it could be argued that Apple has a responsibility to do so).

Personally, I'm very disappointed in Apple about this.
