Why did the new update of iTuned delete all my apps without asking me if that's what I wanted to do? I had apps that I was saving that are no longer being developed that I can't download from Apple. I have them on my backup disk, but now there is no way to put them on my ipad.

iTunes 12.7 does not delete apps. The apps are still stored in your iTunes folder. If you look for them you will find them.
I found them in a Users folder, but I really don't understand what I should do next. Apple has done a really, really poor job of making this move and providing clear direction.
We might as well get a non-apple tablet or phone, because that's what they have to do.
turingtest2, I just did a sync. Apps that I had updated on my ipad where synced with my computer, and visa versa, and I no longer have autoupdate.
I don't need to do that. I just download a new app on my iPad and did a sync. I saw the message “transferring purchases from....”, and the file is in the iTunes Mobile apps folder.
Under iTunes/Edit > Preferences > Downloads is automatic download for apps enabled?

No, I turned that off so it didn't automatically download iTunes 12.7
Perhaps you can't do it on Windows. I have a Macbook Pro.
Tried again, starting with an empty library on my Mac mini running iTunes 12.6.2.20 and Sierra. Over 2,000 audio files copied in from my iPhone, not one app.
