Update using the App Store app on your iPhone, in the Updates tab. As publicized, iTunes 12.7 does not have an apps section.

Ummm, you have never been able to install or update apps using your computer with Android devices. Perhaps you didn't know that?

I truly resent anyone who invokes a dead person in a failed attempt to make a point, BTW. None of us have any idea what Steve Jobs would have done.

Please explain what removing app management from iTunes has to do with greed, BTW. Seems like a total non sequitur.

A poor decision, maybe. Selfish???

...Not doubt likely part of the fallout of Steve Jobs not being around anymore....

Invoking a dead man. As previously stated, he initially wanted no connection

to computers. General it was thought his vision was to have everything cloud

based eventually.

...Then, the thugs start their greedy ways...

This really move really does nothing to Apple's bottom line and

make them more money.

...Less we lock arms with Android users to show our discontent?!..

I would not touch an Android device with a 10 foot pole. Not that

I am an Apple fanboy. As a matter of fact, I thing there are some really

nice pieces of hardware out there that are being ruined by Android.

Android is a mess and management is even more of a mess.

With all that said, I do believe removal of App Store and management

was bad.

See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash to revert to a pre-12.7 version of your .itl file.

Note that since the introduction of app thinning with iOS 9 it hasn't been necessary to have copies of your apps stored locally when restoring a device. Thinned versions of the apps are pulled directly from the store as part of the restoration process, as they would be if you restored from iCloud rather than iTunes.

How did you do it? My problem is that my mom has an iPhone 5, but I updated my iTunes to the latest version. Now she needs to update her Whatsapp, and the update says 147 MB. So it doesn't allow me to update via cellular data. Unfortunately I don't live in the US. I don't have any form of wifi close by, I can only connect her phone either via wifi to my windows PC or per USB. Then the other issue of course is that the apps don't appear in iTunes anymore. So how do you do it???

You OBVIOUSLY aren't getting the crux of the postings here! You're the ONLY person whom I have seen that posted something positive about this crap! Apple suckered us for years and now has kicked our legs out from under us! Some of us have business apps and such that are imperative that we have & use them. Plus, ALL of our CD's and home movies we have collected over the years? I have delayed installing this update due to I don't want to lose everything! I have multiple apples POS's that I have used and have sync'd together. They took the HEART out of what the customer wanted/desired/used constantly and ripped it out. This update comes just under bricking the F'n device!

you are missing then point, via apps scored on your macs, you have control over hat apps go on what device - I also have older (working) apps on my backups of older devices that cannot run the newer apps.

I can control what apps go on what device and do not have to (or physically cannot) update where not wanted or needed. I have 2 desktop home Macs and 4 mac laptops, 5 iPads and 3 iPhones in my household - surely as a loyal mac customer I should be able to choose and maintain what goes on what device, Some are old devices (still used) and some are brand new.

This seems once again of big corporation forced obsolesence!

I too have the issue that my iPhone is my source of internet and I use it to tether to my computer. With unlimited data I would really like it if the 100mb download limit was discarded. Yes I get to use wifi in other places but it's not convenient when you want to play your graphics heavy game and it insists upon an update and your not going anywhere near wifi till the next day.

However I found a work around for updating apps.

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your mac via cable (Important that it is via the cable)

Step 2: Select personal hotspot and ensure the blue connection shows on your phone

Step 3: Turn on your wifi and go to your macs System preferences

Step 4: Select sharing

Step 5: Select Internet sharing (Share your connection should state iPhone USB)

Step 6: Select Wifi in the option box

Step 7: Go to wifi networks on your iPhone and join your macs network. You are now providing wifi with your own phone! Enjoy, I hope it helps
