apps missing from iTunes sidebar

iTunes 12.7.0.166 recently upgraded on my iMac Sierra 10.12.6. Plugged in iPhone and iPads to manage organization of the apps however iTunes side bar does not show apps listed anymore. Music, Movies, TV Shows, Books, Photos, Info and file sharing all present.

Apple just released iTunes version 12.6.3 that brings back App and Ringtone management support.

See this User Tip for more details.

Read the proverbial fine print at the bottom of the doc.

Apple only supports the latest release (12.7). They are basically

saying us it at your own risk and if you have any trouble we will

not be responsible nor help. Also note the release date. It has been around

for a while.

I understand the concern of others. However, it also seems to have freed up 5 GB of memory on my iPhone5. That's great for my needs. Not sure how one effects the other, but more memory is always a great thing!

It has not freed up anything on your phone. Since iTunes no longer

manages apps, it no longer reports any info about them. Check the

phone itself and see.

Yes the great thinkers at Apple dropped the ball on this one, or perhaps they want us to buy bigger iPhones and new iPads to make it easier to do. Yes why take the functionality out of iTunes so you have to do it on your iPhone, ok so older versions of iTunes easy restore from a backup and you get things back as they should be. To be honest, I have seen no new useful features in the latest iTunes versions anyway.

Apple who is running your development teams they really should ask before they change things

i think jack it up was being sarcastic?

The main thing that annoys me is apple didn't announce this well, if i had have knows they were trimming apps, i would have never updated to 12.7 however i had to totally rebuild my iMac from scratch... yet my windows laptop only took a few minutes! I buy apple because its easier and just works intuitively

the other sneaky thing was removing home movie sync when you step up to the TV app. guess i'll put everything in iMovie now?

I agree with you! I am also very irritated. For the past 2 days I have been dealing with recovering my children's iPads, because of a bad download. Now that I can't see the Apps it has been even more irritating. With multiple devices which is a pain to begin with, and now this feature being removed makes managing and seeing what apps they have downloaded on the device and which apps have been deleted, now requires me to fumble through their devices. Thanks Apple for making less user friendly for people with children.
