iTunes 12.7 play count not updating

And once again, the plays counter doesn't work.

Apple never learns. iTunes still is clunky, slow, and buggy. Get with it Apple. Raise your software bar to the same level as your hardware bar.

The fix for plays in iTunes prior to this release was to turn off cross fade. But even that doesn't work this time.

Anyone found a solution?

Windows 7, iTunes 12.7.0.166 32-bit

I can confirm that this fixed the problem for me. Steps I took:

1. Deauthorized computer

2. Signed out of iTunes

3. Restarted computer

4. Opened iTunes and tested - play count worked

5. Signed back in to iTunes - play count still worked

6. Reauthorized computer - still worked

7. Uncrossed fingers and exhaled

See Deploy apps in a business environment with iTunes - Apple Support for access to iTunes 12.6.3 if you want to revert to a build with app management features. Windows users need to uninstall the current copy of the iTunes application first. See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash for steps to revert to a pre-iTunes 12.7 version of your iTunes database.

In my case (running iTunes 12.7.0.166 on Windows 10), the problem seems to have gone away after I went to View Options (CTRL+J), and under "Stats" made sure that both "Last Played" and "Plays" were checked. I needed to do this for each individual playlist for which I wanted the data to appear. I hope this helps.

I have the same issue with a broader problem; I just migrated from an old system to a new and upgraded to iTunes 12.7.0.166; I am on Windows 10Pro. I purchased new songs and added them to my library. The play counts do not update nor does my Recently Played list - nothing I have played since the migration and update has been registered. The appropriate stats are checked in all the relevant lists and they don't update at all. Anyone have any thoughts?

Same problem. They are also not showing up in the "History" or "Recently Played." I already have Plays and Last Played displaying in all views, so that doesn't help.

I do not have crossfade on; never have.

This combined with the disappearing Column Browser, 12.7 seems like it wasn't quite ready for release yet.

I also have this problem. My iPod play counts do sync but if iTunes is importing a disc, or I've just converted a song into a new format, or I've just added a file or even for no reason the play count will just stop. If I restart iTunes the play counts register again for a while then stops again. I like the play count, come on Apple, please don't neglect it...

I DO have home sharing turned on, but I do not synch any loose Apple devices (iPad, iPod, or iPhone) with Windows iTunes.

I have version 12.7.0.166 installed on two computers. The play count does not work on one, but works just fine on the other. Unfortunately the one that stopped working when the new update was installed is the primary that I use to sync my devices. In my case the devices update the play count, just completing songs on the PC does not.

I have:

iTunes 12.7.0.166

running on Windows 10 64-bit

with no home sharing

with no cross-fade on

with all play count data showing in the iTunes browser (not sure how that would matter)

And:

Play count is not updating for music played from the computer

Skip count is not updating for music skipped from the computer

Songs played on the computer are not showing up in "Recently Played" smartlist

Music that I played on a device (downloaded music on that device) *does* show up in play count when I sync back to the computer.

Problem only started when I installed iTunes 12.7.0.166

iTunes 12.7 play count not updating
