How can something that has not been released yet be "delayed"? It will only be delayed if it is not available on its originally announced availability date.

And the iPhone 8/8+ shares most of the exact same core components (camera, cpu, gpu, storage amounts, etc) as the iPhone X. The only real difference in the X is the size and enclosure, the OLED display and the infrared face recognition system. But the other shared components make the iPhone 8 an iPhone X-lite far more than they make it an iPhone 7s.

According to news reports, one of the single biggest issues in iPhone X production has been securing sources of sufficient OLEC displays to meet demand. There are really only two companies that make them - Samsung and LG, and their production capacity was already near peak to meet supplies for their own brand name devices and others like Yotaphone and Meizu. Both Samsung and LG have been building out their OLED production capacity, but since the markets are relatively new, capacity is limited.

According to what I've read, they X is delayed because they are just now ramping up building them and they want to have them in sufficient quantities to not upset people who pre-order. They are supposedly turning out 10,000/day now and even that won't satisfy demand on pre-order day. Many of us who pre-order are likely going to be taking delivery weeks after ordering. I'm prepared to just be patient once my order goes in and recognize that I may not be lucky enough to get mine on 11-3.

Prolly a mistake to ask. LOL But if I were to guess, it means Earnings Per Share. Which would be bunk. Apple certainly does not benefit from not selling products while excitement is high. And the fact they are likely going to be behind getting these phones in peoples hands will further reduce sales. Not exactly the stuff of increasing earnings.

That statement does not fit your earlier premise. If people held back from ordering the iPhone 8 series waiting for the iPhone X then it appears the X is desirable and people want it. As far as spectacular I don't know of anyone who is driven by that and no matter what Apple releases some people will not consider it spectacular. But what does this have to do with the technical problem you have with your device?
