Apple Watch 3 LTE for Italy

I live in Italy, and the Apple Watch series 3 GPS + LTE is not available here because there are no deals with italian operators yet. Only GPS.

Would an Apple Watch LTE, bought for example in Usa, work in Italy, in the scenario of an hypothetical deal with italian operators?
Would the e-sim be compatible?
Thanks.

Hi

If buying Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) in another country, then you would need to buy a model that supports the relevant LTE and UMTS bands for your country and supported carrier.

The cellular features require a carrier plan for your iPhone that also specifically includes support for Apple Watch.

There are three different regional versions of Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), each supporting different LTE and UMTS bands, as detailed here:

Apple Watch - Carriers - Apple

Also keep in mind that warranty service may be restricted to the country in which Apple Watch is originally purchased:

Apple One (1) Year Limited Warranty

I suggest that you contact your preferred carrier in Italy to ask whether the model could be used on any future service plan they may offer for iPhone that supports Apple Watch.

Also be aware if you are going to try to buy an Apple Watch 3 LTE outside of Italy that you're probably better off buying one from another European country than from the US. The US model supports different LTE bands than the EU model. Meaning even when Italian carrier officially offer plans, they still may not work with the US model.

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) is not locked to any specific carrier and has a built-in eSIM that copies information from the iPhone's SIM card.

Italy is not among the launch countries for Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular).

Apple advises that Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will become available in other countries next year, but it has not yet specified when and where.

I suggest that you monitor the Apple Online Store in Italy for further information regarding availability in due course:

I'm afraid that, in the meantime, no-one here can tell you anything about Apple's unannounced plans. You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community.

Ciao,
Grazie!
