Can I create batch "rules" in Mail?

Not sure how to word my question. Basically, I get TONS of spam. And it seems I probably spend at least half an hour a day creating rules to block the spam. It's endless. Is there a way I can select all my spam emails at once and create a rule to block them all at once? I could do all the ones at once that I'm blocking the "FROM" and then all the ones at once I'm blocking the subject. That would save me so much time. Obviously I'd go back in and tweak a bit... so that the rules would be more general. But I can't find anything about this. Is it possible?

I thought Mail was supposed to "learn" junk mail as it went along. But so far that's not happening.

If you are received 100 mails in your inbox , some mails say 30 are spam , as every mail is not spam .

Open mail app and its preferences select junk mail - select the box of perform custom actions ( click advanced to configure ) and click on advanced in the bottom end .

You can either set criteria for different mail addresses as each spam mail is coming from one sender or its a mixture of spam mails send by different senders .

If you click drop down arrow of first option shown with red arrow and select all recipients the mail rule will assume that all mails are spam , so that cannot be applied as other mails that are not spam will be treated as spam .

Some criteria are shown in the screen shot you can choose according to your convenience .

Dear ,

March 95 , personally using a gmail account and iCloud account , in my computer never created rules or filters , first of all don't reveal mail address to unknown persons .

These are simple settings ( see the boxes that are checked ) .

Also , by entering in web mail gmail deletes the trashed mail after 30 days , inspite whatever settings the user create for trash mailbox .Also it depends upon the internet service provider for how many days they keep trashed mails on their server , many user use different mail services and it is very tough for me to know the details of every service provider ( some are using yahoo , hot mail etc ) .

You can directly enter in web mail account , there is a setting delete the mail permanently ( select the mails in trash ) .

Apple forwarded this thread to me, but alas, it doesn't solve my problem, which is not getting Mail to sort the junk--I already did all that you mention and more--but getting Mail to erase the Junk after a determined time--or ANY TIME!

No matter what I do (including configuring rules in every possible way), Junk just piles up until I manually delete it.

If you have a solution for this, you will surely get a prize! Other folks in MacBook threads have broken their heads over this, but no one has come up with a way to make Mail automatically erase Junk after an established time.
