Missing "App" icon in iTunes Library sidebar

Apple is now restricting iOS App Store connectivity to iDevices only. What I need to know is if I can still sync and backup my iDevices via an USB connection to iTunes as I don't use iClod.

Yes, you can still backup to iTunes. If/when the time comes to restore the apps will be pulled directly from the store.

Yes, unless you’ve chosen to backup to iCloud iTunes should backup the device on the first sync of each day. It does for me.

Well, it stopped on both my iPhone & iPad back around when either iOS 10.3 or a later version of iOS 10.2 were released. One day it worked, the next time it didn't.

Did you try changing the option to backup to iCloud, then set it back to iTunes?

Yes, the idea would be to to toggle the option. No need to actually complete a backup to iCloud.

OK, I'll try that. I'll also turn off AirPort on my iMac so there won't be an Apple-forced connection to iClod.

What happens if you make a copy of the current backup and then delete it so iTunes can start a fresh one?

I meant you to use iTunes > Preferences > Devices, rather than Finder. 😮

iTunes > Preferences > Devices. Right-click on a backup gives options to archive or delete.

I tried that (actually Control-click as I use Mac) and it didn't work. All it did was select the backup to use for restoring. It may be a Windows-only "feature".
