Tv OS11 removed watched/unwatched video sorting

This is so annoying to have this simple feature removed. My workaround - not brilliant - is to create an Unwatched Playlist in iTunes for Movies and TV Shows which then gives me a simple list on the ATV.

Nearly as awful is that the list view is far less efficient. It's far easier to read and scroll through a single column list than look at a grid that can only show several titles at a time. It's all around a terrible interface. Forget getting the 4K if this is how it's going to be.

I got the gen4 so I could have apps and better LiveTV streaming and so on. But this tvOS11 is horrible. I'm a freaking cross-platform developer for a living and I look at this as Mumbai outsource junk!

If you have an existing library they have lobotomized all the ability to do anything decent with it. Hundreds of shows and movies on my server. I have capped satellite internet so I can't just freely stream everything as if I was on fibre. I buy DVD's and rip them to my server. I buy and download from I tunes, Amazon etc. and keep everything as a local file so I can then put it on my iPad, iPhone7+ etc. and watch off-line: You know, like when on a plane or cruise ship. But Apple has taken away core abilities like "unwatched" or "by air date" from TV shows and movies. Do these people not even use their own product at home to confirm it makes sense and is functional?

If you want to downgrade act fast while the os10 bundle is still signed. There are tutorials on the 'net.

I'm strongly looking at replacing my 4 AppleTV's (3xgen3, 1xgen4) with some simple Firecast stick and replace all of iTunes with Plex on my home server. That's how bad this has gotten.

Get the Cook out of the kitchen and put some actual developers back in charge of development.

11.1 did not fix anything related to this topic. 11.2 beta has brought back Unwatched and that's pretty much all I could see. Playlists are still just a list of episode names but you have no idea which season it is etc.

11.2 beta brings some minor UI updates but nothing drastic.

I despise tvos11, i contacted apple in a hope to rollback to tvos10, without any luck, but i did manage to do it on my own, all you need is a usb type c cable to connect it to your computer, and you need the signed version of tvos 10 to roll it back. yes, play counts from music across Home Sharing don't seem to be updating either. Hopefully a bug that will be fixed quickly.

Regardless of sorting (yes annoying) I used to be able to long press and mark a show as watched, is there any way to do that now?

The functionality remains in iTunes.

My reply was to someone else. I agree with your post and I am experiencing the same thing.

You can list alphabetically but they have removed the ability to view unwatched or mark anything as watched/unwatched manually with a long press.
