Figure they would disclose that. Apple is slowly losing me. I dont know a single person who has bought an iPhone 8. I bought this AppleTV not to long ago and from a software standpoint sub marginal capability for why? Right on Apple. Ive been one of your legion since 94'. Dont know what kind of economy you think exists past Apple Park.
Yes because the guy that quotes Apple's support document that explictely states it only works with apple Tv 4 and 4K, and has 4 different devices updated to iOS 11, and none of them can see the Apple TV 3rd generation through the widget is full of BS.
Can't really understand everything you did to get it to work, but if it works for you great. It's really poor manners to call out someone who is just trying to help.
And for the record, yes that is me. I have tried, and it does not work with an 3rd Generation Apple TV.
So the only one full of BS is here unless you can actually show is it works. Picture of the both the Apple TV and the screen on the iPhone locating the Apple Tv.
OK, so I have the following and it is working.
-iPhone 6 running iOS 11.1.1 (just now updated)
-Apple TV (3rd gen) A1427 (7.2.2 (8015)
-Apple TV remote app is version 1.2.1.
Earlier this evening I was unable to activate the Apple TV. I burped (power on/off for 15 sec.) the baby and it came back to life. During that time I also updated my iOS. One thing I have not tried is turning the Apple TV on with my phone from a cold start. I will keep you all in tune.
I’ve got the exact same problem.
Same here. On all my devices, iPhone and iPad
:-(
Same problem here...
Thanks for the reply 🙂
LOL you mean Apple is nudging me to buy a 4th gen+ Apple TV in order for a function to work on my phone? Inconceivable!
You're welcome.
That is Total BS!!! It worked for me with the 3rd gen until i updated to 11.0.2! These guys are just pushing a new product! Im SOOOO ****** off right now at apple!
It worked for me after i updated just fine. After 11.0.2 it just stopped. Its apple pushing product. I think its total BS!!!!
They made it not work for some reason. It worked for me just after i updated to 11.0.1 but after .0.2 it didn't work any longer. I would like to know why this was necessary.
So i re-downloaded the app which i deleted because the widget did work. And now the app doesn't recognize the apple tv 3rd gen now either.
I Restarted everything for the 3rd time an now the widget works. So my previous statement is true. and that guy who has 8 apple points is full of BS!
After being frustrated that neither the 11.0.2 app or control center widget worked with my 3rd gen Apple TV, I restarted both my phone and Apple TV, and voila, the remote app worked again.
