iPhone 7 screen protector on the iPhone 8

I have recently pre-ordered the new iPhone 8 and was browsing through screen protectors. I've purchased a full coverage 3D tempered glass protector that states it's for the iPhone 7. I had previously asked the manufacturer if it was compatible with the iPhone 8 but, after they didn't reply and thinking the specifications are the same anyway, I bought it.

They recently replied saying the iPhone 7 protector I purchased is not compatible with the iPhone 8 as the holes are slightly different. Is this correct or do they just want me to buy another? I was under the impression that the front camera, sensor and speaker on the new iPhone 8 were in the same identical position as the iPhone 7?

So my question is, can you use full screen iPhone 7 screen protectors on the iPhone 8?
