My iPhone 6 needs to be charged more often then usual ever since the new update... Has anyone else noticed their battery is draining faster with the new iOS 11 update ?

Have you tried a reset?

iOS Reset -

With an iPhone 6S and lower, press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the device, it is similar to rebooting your computer. With an iPhone 7, press & hold the Power and the Volume Down buttons.

I had the exact same issue with my girlfriends iPhone 6. Battery drain skyrocketed after the iOS 11 update. It took ages to find a decent solution that didn't involve a reset (which doesn't work by the way)

About the best information, I have found so far. It hasn't got it back to 100% but its close.

Let me know if it works for you 🙂

hi,

i've reset my 6s several times, switched it off and disconnect background app refresh, mail push and localization apps. But nothing worked. i also send a twitt to Apple Support. They made me a remote analysis and told that my hardware is ok. After that they suggested me to make a backup and restore the iphone as new using itunes. I've done it but it still drains batt so fast... no apps running and 3% of batt in less than a minute. If batt shows 95%... i switch the phone off and when restarting it shows 97% and after that it starts going down to 95% or lower... it's like it can't read the batt capacity properly or something like that.

so first of all... for those who are thinking about going iOS11... i would think it twice... and take it easy until next patches.

so please Apple...

I have a 5s and I haven't used it at all today since taking it off the charge this morning and within 2 hours it was at 58% still didn't use it AT ALL and another 2.5 hours I noticed my Blue tooth earpiece flashing, thinking I was getting a call I couldn't hear, I picked up the phone only to see now it was at 2% battery left!!! I've NEVER had it go this low! ***?!?! like a fool I updated to 11.0.1 then 11.0.2 and now it's telling me to go to 11.0.3 WHY should I? Did the problem get fixed yet?? I'm not seeing anything on this thread stating it's resolved. And Oh yeah, a hard re-setting got it to acknowledge that when I plugged it in, it was supposed to be CHARGING (which it didn't when I saw 2% and plugged it in) but frick! what the ****? I'm thinking time for a change and a totally different manufacturer is coming up soon . Anyone know what's up?

I followed your link and checked all the suggestions, in fact some of the items were already off. I made sure I turned all notifications, fetches and widgets off. Powered down, rebooted and it did not resolve my problem. Checked your link against some others that were similar just to be sure even. I saw that another option was to restore to factory settings, but that seems a bit drastic. I shouldn't have to resort to that. Been a Iphone user for years, and never have had such poor performance on the battery with older devices and updates. I had to restore once before due to unrelated problem, and even though I had a full back up, I lost some emails that I still needed to reference since once downloaded it is not on the email exchange server that I use. So that is not an option for me right now. I thought about having the phone battery serviced. But to service the device you have to send it in which is also ridiculous when you don't have a back up device to use. Then I'm not even sure if there's a cost associated with it which would be ridiculous as well. With the older devices I never even had to consider getting it serviced and always lasted until my next decision to upgrade. And still works better when I pass on to the kids to use as ipod(but did not upgrade ios). So unproductive. Quality seems poor now. And based on some of the more recent posts, even a factory restore did not resolve the problem. So that really doesn't give me a good feeling for a solid solution and I have no incentive to even resort to that waste of time. Just like several related on this topic, charging also slower than it used to also. In just a few minutes as I was typing this response on my computer, my phone drained 5% from just laying there.

I just thought I'd post an update to my situation, after trying the solutions posted here which didn't resolve my draining battery issue. I ended up reaching out to Apple support online and they ran an diagnostic analysis and said my battery was actually bad and needed to be replaced. So I really didn't have much choice if I want a functional and productive phone, but to replace it. I took it to the store, and they ran the diagnostic to confirm, and it cost $86, so now the charge holds like a new phone would. My phone was a 6 so about 3 yrs old. The Genius bar person that helped me said that it would be about how long the battery would last you if you don't let your battery drain all the way before re-charging. Apparently charging your phone at 50% to a full charge really only means you are getting 50% charge not a full. That over time the recharging becomes less effective as well as performance. The update to the latest iOS was not a cause to my already bad battery. The update was a coincidence and may have refreshed and triggered the quick draining of the battery, that would of eventually started to. I don't know that I really believed or liked the explanation they gave me, considering I am among many who have the same problem after the iOS update, but it is what it is.

Hi,

were you an ios 11 beta tester ? if so, please remove the profile from settings>general>profile> ios Beta software profile. (just go and delete the profile and restore using itunes) This is what I did.

Also, please check the version updated on your phone, is it ios 11.1.2 updated ? If you follow the same procedure the latest ios firmware will be updated on your phone.

After restoring my battery stamina really improved, I have been using for the past three hours, the battery consumed is 7%.

However, I am still monitoring the performance.

Thanks

I agree. After spending weeks reading here and there and everywhere, I tried to do whatever I could think of. I also tried to downgrade (with no success) and delete apps, but still the same thing: I have to charge the phone twice a day. Apple has not responded yet with any new updates and more importantly they have not accepted they have made a mess out there. There are other phone brands out in the market at a quarter of the price with the same capabilities. I quit APPLE !!!

I have a Iphone 6s, the 11.2 upgrade *****! full of weird bugs but mainly it will drain my battery within an hour after being at 100%, I have the background app refresh turned off, location services turned off, everything I can do to not drain the battery but with how much we pay we should be able to use our phone the way we need to without worrying about it shutting down, my phone does that too, if Im outside it will shut down even with 30% left on the battery…super frustrated and Ive been an apple customer for many many years, seriously considering switching. Get your sh*t together apple!!!!

I spent a couple days working up the Apple Support chain with a similar problem that appeared right after my ios11 download. After being told by a senior service rep that my ipad/battery passed two remote diagnosis I was then told after further review it was a “coincidence” that my trouble started after the download. Repair =$99 to $299. I am buying a Galaxy. Apple has lost it’s way and has become another “Dell”. I have been a Apple customer for years based upon reliability, simplicity and service. We pay a premium for this. Now they cannot update a device without damage, deny responsibility and default to the business of making a profit center out of repair. This is the kind of thing that signals time to sell APPL.

Same problem here with my iPhone 6 (1yr 10 months old). After spending lot of time and effort with Apple Support - they finally suggested that I need to replace the battery. The Apple service center diagnosed my phone and confirmed that the battery is still in very good condition and therefore replacing the battery is not going to solve the problem. Problem is with the ios11 - its bugged.

So now I have lost faith in Apple. I have no other option but to trash this device and buy a new one. I am never going to buy Apple device ever again. And I would never recommend Apple to anyone.
