My iPhone 6 needs to be charged more often then usual ever since the new update... Has anyone else noticed their battery is draining faster with the new iOS 11 update ?

One step that can ultimately tell if your issue is your actual battery or software is to back everything up to iTunes/iCloud and restore to factory settings using iTunes.

If you restore using iTunes (more specifically iTunes on a computer, not going to Settings > General > Reset), it takes the entirety of your software off the phone and puts a "fresh" copy on. You can then set up the phone as new and sign into iCloud or add your internet accounts to get your contacts etc. back.

If your battery is fine after that then you know that your software was causing the battery drain.

You can call AppleCare and ask them to run a battery diagnostics and don't be surprised when they tell you your battery is fine, because most likely software is causing your battery drain.

I can confirm this works because I had the same issue and tested this per advice from an Applecare advisor and turns out this was true. The last time I backed up my phone was months ago so it was nobody's fault but mine for not backing up information that I needed.

Hope this clarifies things!

I followed your link and checked all the suggestions, in fact some of the items were already off. I made sure I turned all notifications, fetches and widgets off. Powered down, rebooted and it did not resolve my problem. Checked your link against some others that were similar just to be sure even. I saw that another option was to restore to factory settings, but that seems a bit drastic. I shouldn't have to resort to that. Been a Iphone user for years, and never have had such poor performance on the battery with older devices and updates. I had to restore once before due to unrelated problem, and even though I had a full back up, I lost some emails that I still needed to reference since once downloaded it is not on the email exchange server that I use. So that is not an option for me right now. I thought about having the phone battery serviced. But to service the device you have to send it in which is also ridiculous when you don't have a back up device to use. Then I'm not even sure if there's a cost associated with it which would be ridiculous as well. With the older devices I never even had to consider getting it serviced and always lasted until my next decision to upgrade. And still works better when I pass on to the kids to use as ipod(but did not upgrade ios). So unproductive. Quality seems poor now. And based on some of the more recent posts, even a factory restore did not resolve the problem. So that really doesn't give me a good feeling for a solid solution and I have no incentive to even resort to that waste of time. Just like several related on this topic, charging also slower than it used to also. In just a few minutes as I was typing this response on my computer, my phone drained 5% from just laying there.

I agree. After spending weeks reading here and there and everywhere, I tried to do whatever I could think of. I also tried to downgrade (with no success) and delete apps, but still the same thing: I have to charge the phone twice a day. Apple has not responded yet with any new updates and more importantly they have not accepted they have made a mess out there. There are other phone brands out in the market at a quarter of the price with the same capabilities. I quit APPLE !!!

The stories above mirror my experience exactly, except I have an IPAd. Apple refuses to admit responsibility to the point that it’s support team acts surprised to hear about the problem <despite the large number of similar issues>. Apple is now a commodity and it’s price will soon have to follow-who will pay a premium for this behavior?

Haze is spot on...ive spent 5 chat sessions...1 visit to apple...2 lengthy calls...all for them to tell me "nothing we can do" because both my phone and my daughters phones now crashed (froze) once the IOS11 was downloaded...

Let me preface by stating we have 5 phones...2 imacs...4 ipads...for home use. In my business...4 ipads...2 phones...2 imacs....

Complete BS!!!!!

I've had every generation of Iphone....and my daughters all want watches this xmas....

#1. I am NOT purchasing them watches

#2. I am going to shop androids...hard to change...but I have to do it.

#3. Not sure why the new regime is taking such a crappy stance when THEY caused these problems.

#4. Apple has never been a "customer" friendly place because they always have the stance that they are correct......its been a place "we the customer" sought and dealt with because we needed what they had to offer.....Unfortunately for them.....we now have other options finally that can rival their offerings.

I hope Apple is internalizing this growing trend of disolution on the part of its original hard core groupies. Unless Apple becomes more responsive to the open alternatives available to Android in all kinds of apps which do not cost money and broaden the uswr horizon, it will find itself in trouble. My own family has seen 4 iphone users move to Androis in the past 2 years. This is a trend and Apple had better wake uo.
