iOS 11 update ringtones purchased not working

I thought it worked. When I tested it the correct ringtone played.....but after that, it plays the default ringtone. And, I was charged for a second download of the same ringtone! I give up!

Has anyone tried to see if the latest update to iOS 11 (released 2018-0111) fixes the issue (I've been told by Apple support that engineers are working on a fix)?

This may dumb, but I just kept turning my phone on and off until my text tones went back to normal. I think after the 5th or 6th one my downloaded tone started working again.

This is what happened to me, also. And I've gone into the store and talked with the Genious bar people twice now and they seem to not know about the problem and can't fix it either.

Have you tried a springboard reset? Home button + power button until it turns off/resers

I have iOS 11.3 (April 2018) and despite “downloading all purchases” and reassignment of the purchased tone to incoming messages I er it checked and still have the default factory ding.
